President, Combined Insurance Mr. Williams oversees all business operations, management, and growth strategies at Combined Insurance. He joined Combined in 2021 from Aflac, Inc., where he was a core member of its global executive management team and most recently served as President of Aflac Group Benefits. Prior to joining Aflac, Mr. Williams held a series of leadership positions, including at Unum U.S., Colonial Life, and Aetna. An actuary by training, he is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). Mr. Williams is a graduate of Wofford College in South Carolina. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina.
Vice President, CFO and Chief Agent for Canada Vince Iozzo was appointed to the position of Vice President, Chief Agent for Canada in 2007. Since joining Combined Insurance in July 1996, he has held several roles including Controller, Chief Compliance Officer and added Chief Financial Officer in 2010 to his existing role as Chief Agent.
Since joining Combined Insurance, Mr. Iozzo also supported other entities under the AON group of companies such as Virginia Surety Company (P&C underwriting company) and other administration companies Aon Warranty Services and Resource Dealer Group. Financial management for these local companies included financial leadership and reporting, taxation, financial processing and payroll administration. Prior to joining Combined Insurance, Mr. Iozzo held the position of Controller at AFLAC Canada for 3 years.
Mr. Iozzo holds the Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant designation (CPA, CA) since 1992, and achieved his Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation in 1998. Mr. Iozzo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math for Commerce at York University, Ontario Canada.
Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer for Canada Anthony Mercante is the Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer for Canada. Mr. Mercante joined Combined Insurance in 1978 as a Sales Representative. In 1980 he became a License and Sales Trainer. In 1982 he advanced to Regional Sales Administrator. During this time he was awarded Administrator of the Year. In 1986 Mr. Mercante moved up to the position of Divisional Sales Administrator for the nine Common Law Provinces. In September 2001 he was promoted to Vice President, National Sales Administration and was appointed to his current position in August 2010. As CAO, he is responsible for day to day sales administrative operations which include sales operational planning, budgets, product development, marketing, training, sales offices, sales governance and legal related issues.
Senior Vice President, Chief Operations Officer Ms. Castolene and her team are accountable for providing differentiated service experiences, both directly, and indirectly, to Combined’s customers. Her oversight includes claims; service support to brokers and corporate clients; and contact center and back operations for individual consumers. In addition, she is accountable for delivering resources and capabilities that enable quality delivery of transformational initiatives across the enterprise.
Senior Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer Mr. McCoy oversees all North American Underwriting functions, including the maximization and optimal balancing of revenue and profitability targets. He joined Combined from Unum, where he worked for more than two decades in both individual and group business and most recently oversaw Unum’s Voluntary Benefits Underwriting organization. Mr. McCoy earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Senior Vice President, Claims Ms. Bryer is accountable for all aspects of strategy, execution, and day-to-day performance for the U.S. and Canada Combined Claims organizations. She has more than 20 years of claims adjudication experience. Most recently, she served as the Vice President of Operations for Unum’s Life and Long-Term Care claim operations. Throughout her career, Ms. Bryer has worked in a variety of leadership roles, including leading diverse product teams in long-term and individual disability. She brings a passion for continuous improvement and talent development.
Vice President, Operations Mr. Martz was appointed Vice President Operations for the Canadian Branch of Combined Insurance in January 2019 and has over 30 years of Financial Services experience in lending, financing and insurance. Mr. Martz is a seasoned transformation executive who has led several large-scale transformation efforts focused on improving operational performance and the client experience.
Prior to joining Combined Insurance, Mr. Martz spent 18 years with Pitney Bowes Inc. holding several senior operational leadership roles running North America Operations with responsibility for both domestic and outsourced operations.
Mr. Martz began his financial services career as a licensed insurance agent for Combined Insurance of America. He is responsible for driving improvements in client experience and supporting the growth initiatives of the Canadian organization.
Vice President, Marketing and Sales Incentives Stephen joined Combined Insurance in April 2018. He brings with him 20+ years of experience in the Insurance and Banking Industries. Stephen believes that a strong collaborative cultural will help Combined Insurance achieve great heights for many years to come.
AVP-Human Resources, Canada Christine Houghton joined Combined Insurance in March 2019. She has 25+ years leadership experience with nearly 30 years within the North American Insurance Industry.
Christine had previously held a number of positions at Desjardins/State Farm Canada, State Farm and most recently, VP-Human Resources with Canadian Premier Life.
In her role, Christine has responsibility for the leadership, day to day operations and strategic direction of the Canadian Human Resources team. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and has earned her CCP, CBP, GRP and her CHRL.
AVP Actuary Christie Ko joined Combined Insurance in November 2017. She brings with her over ten years of experience in the Insurance industry. Christie serves as the Appointed Actuary for the Canadian Branch of Combined Insurance.
Prior to joining Combined Insurance, Christie held a number of positions at various insurers including Manulife Financial, Sun Life Financial and Great-West Lifeco.
Christie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science and Economics from the University of Toronto. She is a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
