Military Veterans Enrich Combined Insurance in the Corporate Offices and in the Field

This November the nation will celebrate Veteran’s Day. This is an especially important holiday for us at Combined Insurance, where we have a tradition of supporting military Veterans by providing them with meaningful career opportunities and supporting related causes.

In return, this special group of employees has contributed to the company’s success and positive culture in countless ways.  During the month of November, Supplementally Speaking and our corporate social sites will place a spotlight our Veteran’s program.

Combined Insurance values Veterans’ talents and strengths

We know Veterans, military spouses, and Reservists know how to get the job done.  Being successful in in the armed forces requires self-motivation, discipline, and drive: qualities that also help employees achieve success in the corporate world. We truly value the qualities Veterans bring with them to the workplace. We also take a special pride in helping a group of individuals who have sacrificed so much for our country.

With this in mind, we launched a Veteran recruiting program in 2010.

Since launching its Veteran recruiting program in 2010, Combined Insurance has hired more than 2,500 Veterans and those with a military background, and is committed to hiring 2,800 more by the end of 2017.  In 2015 alone, 34 percent of Combined Insurance’s new hires had military backgrounds

We are proud to have been named the Nation’s #1 Military Friendly Employer ® by GI Jobs Magazine for two years in a row.

We have special teams who focus on Veteran outreach, and we attend several Veteran-focused job fairs around the country. It is our hope to always be the nation’s top military friendly employer.

Combined also supports Veterans’ causes

We also perform outreach to several Veteran-related causes.  Most recently, a team of our employees served at the USO’s No Dough Night at the Great Lakes Training Station in North Chicago.  We also work with Transition Assistance Programs (TAP), Hiring our Heroes, the Non-Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA), the Veteran’s Administration, and local Veteran organizations.  This past summer, we hosted a charity golf event benefitting the Jason McKie Foundation, an organization dedicated to supplying emergency funds for Veterans and their families.

Veterans enjoy working at Combined Insurance

We are proud to offer meaningful employment opportunities, training, and the support Veterans need to be successful during their careers at Combined. Veterans often comment that one reason they love working at Combined is because of the commitment, teamwork, and camaraderie they share with their coworkers. This can especially be true for our Agents, who work as a team together in the field selling our products, where the organization and structure of Agents and managers is similar to the structure of teams in the military.

Many Veterans have a passion for service, and they joined the armed forces to serve their country. Many of our employees selling insurance share that they appreciate that Combined offers them the opportunity to once again serve their communities by helping them prepare for unexpected events.

In our next post we will take an up close look at some of the Veterans working at Combined today.

Combined Insurance is seeking veterans to fill a variety of positions, including sales agents, territory managers, market directors, administrative and corporate staff positions. Check out our open positions here.
