Combined Insurance is Committed to Serving the Spanish Speaking Market
In 2013, Combined Insurance responded to the rapidly growing U.S. Spanish-speaking population by launching a “Latino Initiative” in the United States. We introduced our first Latino Market in Miami, FL. Three years later, we are happy to announce we have made tremendous progress towards our goal of making supplemental insurance easier to understand for our Spanish-speaking customers. We now have three markets in Florida, three in Texas, one in California and another in Chicago, Illinois.
Combined Insurance’s Latino Initiative
As part of the Initiative, Combined Insurance is committed to:
- Hiring more Spanish-speaking sales agents
- Hiring more Spanish-speaking customer service representatives
- Producing marketing materials in Spanish
- Onboarding agents in Spanish
- Continuous career development delivered in Spanish
And, we’ve had a lot of success! In 2015, 30 percent of our corporate staff hires were bilingual in Spanish and English, and we hired more than 300 bilingual sales agents. By the end of 2016, our goal is to hire 300 more bilingual sales agents. We have a dedicated Spanish-speaking customer support team and we have Spanish educational material to help clearly explain our products to our customers.
Latino Initiative in action
“This initiative thrives on professionals who are hard-working, committed, and goal-oriented—qualities that Latinos are exposed to at a young age. Combined Insurance offers an opportunity for agents to engage with members of their communities and provide meaningful services to families and individuals in the language they prefer,” sales executive Modesto Flores explains. “We are building a team of leaders and are hiring insurance agents who represent a new evolution in how our community is served in this industry.”
Bilingual sales agent, Marisol Gonzales, has been with Combined Insurance since September 2015. She is able to connect with the Latino community in McAllen, Texas, and help them understand the coverage and benefits they can purchase for themselves and their families.
“I come across groups of people who were never approached to talk about supplemental insurance, and I see so much potential for us to help,” said Gonzales. “Once you discuss supplemental insurance, you can see the sense of relief on their faces… the reward of knowing I help protect them from the unexpected is the ultimate gift to me.”
Bilingual territory manager, Martha Mascorro, has been in the insurance industry for 10 years and has dedicated her work to the Latino community. She is able to communicate with this community in their own Spanish language and help them choose the best supplemental health insurance plan specifically for them.
“Many Latinos aren’t even aware of products like ours and how much they can help should they face challenging times in the future,” said Mascorro. “It’s been amazing to see the positive impact my work with Combined Insurance has made on this community.”
